HomeTrack ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your personal information when you use our service.

Information we collect

When you create a HomeTrack account we collect:

• Your name and email address
• Household information you choose to enter (insurance details, vehicle information, pet details, medical summaries, bank and KiwiSaver providers, property, trust and estate details, funeral wishes etc.)
• Details about other people you choose to add, such as emergency contacts, your executor, a guardian for your children, and trustees or beneficiaries of a trust
• Usage data to improve the service

What we do not collect

HomeTrack is explicitly designed to avoid storing:

• Passwords or login credentials for other services
• Full copies of legal documents (wills, powers of attorney)
• Card numbers, PINs or online banking logins. You can record which bank or provider you use and an account or policy number for reference, but HomeTrack can't access or move money.

Information about other people

If you add details about someone else, such as a contact, executor or trustee, please make sure they're happy for you to do so. We only use those details to show them back to you and the people you choose to share your information with. When you remove a household member, their own details in your ICE profile (medical, KiwiSaver, digital accounts, will and estate) are deleted too.

The family handover plan

The family handover plan is created from the information already in your ICE profile, each time you open it or download it. We don't send any of it to other organisations. Services the plan mentions, such as myTrove, are only used if you or your family choose to use them.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

• Provide and improve the HomeTrack service
• Send you weekly digest emails and reminders
• Respond to your support requests
• Process your subscription payments

Free checklist and emails

If you request our free checklist, we collect your email address and, if you give it, your first name. We use these to send you the checklist, a short series of emails over the following two weeks about getting your household organised, and occasional seasonal tips after that. We also record when you signed up, which page you signed up from, and whether you downloaded the checklist, so we can improve our guides. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops all marketing emails straight away. If you later create a HomeTrack account, the marketing emails stop and your account emails take over. We don’t share your details with anyone else. You can ask us to delete your details at any time through our contact page.

Data storage and security

Your data is stored securely in New Zealand. All data is encrypted at rest and in transit. We do not sell your data to third parties and we do not use it for advertising purposes.

Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you cancel your subscription, your data is retained for 90 days in case you wish to reactivate, after which it is permanently deleted. You may request immediate deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.

Your rights

Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your information
• Withdraw consent for us to use your information

Cookies

HomeTrack uses essential cookies only — for authentication and security purposes. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
